went divin today

Well the wind is blowin, but I didn't let that stop me. Went out today on the WEEKI WACHEE river and dove HOSPITAL HOLE. Its a pretty good size spring about a 5 minute idle from the ramp. The opening of the hole on the bottom of the river is about the size of 2 V's side by side and opens up when you go inside. Went down 86 feet on the first dive and bounced back up(first time evr diving in a spring :o, a little erie). Went down to 72 on the 2nd dive, and come back about 2 hours later and went to 93 feet(that was the end of my line tied off to the boat). The visibility SUCKED after 80 feet, and was non existent after 90, and that was with a good dive light. Came back up to the 30-60 foot column and looked at the walls of it where all the other divers that have dove it wrote there names in the walls and dates of the dives. It was pretty neat overall on the 3rd dive, but that first one was a little scary. Real easy to get disoriented in those conditions as well, no vis and no reference points at those depths. Asked some other people that were just finishing there dives when we pulled up and they said it was 125 feet deep, but the last 6 feet was all sulphur and silt.

Here's a couple pics from my outing. My GF was taking the pics so I don't have many(no underwater camera).
Me after my 2nd dive, had my shorty on 62F water temp

I held on to the rope tied off to the boat when we dropped below the column where the vis stopped. But the hole did get it's name because of divers going down and not coming back up. The wildest part of the dive was when we dropped below 80 feet and the vis went away, the swirling water coming out of the spring made it seem like you were spinning when I wasn't. My eyes had nothing to focus on to tell me I wasn't until we came back up to where I could see the walls of the hole. I definately would NOT make a dive like this solo.
