Yay, Yammie runs, Yay!

Got the test drive in today....

While I park the car the crew makes ready under the close scrutiny of the Admiral.

Following Skool's advice I ran 50:1 premix on top of the VRO and took a couple of swigs of the TCW-3 just like he said...

Idled around for a while....

Note to self: search V20 forum for thread about painting cowling.

Everything seemed okay so we crossed our fingers and...

seeing as how this motor is of legal drinking age I really didn't push it. Never took it over 4500RPM which gave around 32MPH (As seen in lower left corner of ancient GPS).

The Admiral on the bridge with the Mini-Admiral at the helm...

Back on the trailer. Now the real fun begins! Scraping, sanding, patching, polishing...

... and just because Hammer gets such a big kick out of it...

Not bad at all for a single 200, not bad at all. That sounds pretty close to what a V20 would do with a 200 YAMMIE. She looks like she was well lubricated, the mosquitos must have been chokin on it ;D. My buddies 248 with a pair of 225's doesn't cruise off much quicker.

I always run double oil the first tank each year!! These old motors need it!

mine is 20 years old now also.

Great pic's!! Now you know you have something to clean up and get ready and know it runs!!

Good for you Tally, been on a few of them first sea trials, one never knows. I will tell you though if it ain't rusted to bad those old yammies run man. Good old friend of mine who says the best engine ever built is the old evinrudes tells me also that his only other choice would be a yammie, he has a 150 hp that is old as the hills on grannies chest and he runs it all year every year fishing fresh and salt depending on whats running. Good luck with yours, if you get half the life he has gotten on his you will be fishing a long time ;)

Tally, as for the cowling, Hammer is the resident paint GURU, pm him about painting ;D

Pix look great and the family looks relaxed and like they enjoyed the heck out of it, that makes it money well spent.

As for your "ancient GPS", take it off and send it to me. *While those GP31's are no chartplotter, they are one of the best GPS units ever made. *I'd love to have one on my boat as a plotter and backup.
