Lefty's Day on the V
lefty wanted to get wet today, so off we went. We got out late today and the wind the picking up and the water was a bit choppy.
The boat ran great in the canal, but when we hit the bay, I noticed she was loosing power, then the ball would go dry and she would stall out. *:-[ ??? I'd pump the ball and she would run and then stall out again. Once she was runnung again, she ran fine up above 3500 rpms, but low rpm's, she would stall. ??? http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...r/DSC02734.jpg Lefty at the Helm. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...r/DSC02731.jpg Lefty in her tighty little wet suit. *;D http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...r/DSC02730.jpg Out in the Bay looking for a new wreck, couldnt find it. >:( http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...r/DSC02729.jpg |
Re: Lefty's Day on the V
When the ball went dry did it collapse or was it dry and fully expanded ?
Depending on your answer it sounds to me like either a clogged fuel filter/line/in-line filter or your fuel pump is in need of a rebuild kit. Do you have a small portable gas can to run it on? That will eliminate the fuel system outside the engine. And for the record a pic of a beautiful woman from forty feet away with a short lens is a crime against humanity and punishable as a felony in New Jersey ;) Forget the last paragraph the other pic just came up. |

A very lucky man you are my friend, motor problems be damned ;D

Re: Lefty's Day on the V
Willy, the ball was dry and fully expanded. I also have a small fuel filter just before teh ball. My repair guy hates it, saying its restricking fuel. ??? Could to much slack in the fuel line be the problem ???
Gonna chane out the fuel line, ball and filter and see what she does. And yes, I'm aware of the crimes in New Jersy, so I stayed in De. waters. ;D |

Re: Lefty's Day on the V
She could be losing the prime if you have a leak in the line, or you have a fuel pump taking a dump because they start sucking air instead of fuel. I have had two fuel pumps go bad and that is how they told me, they would say listen sh!thead I have not got enough umph to pull fuel at low RPM's but if you get me running hard I can pull enough to get going.
But if you have a fuel/water seperator filter have you checked it. New fuels and old tanks are sworn enemies. |
Re: Lefty's Day on the V
This is my fuel line. Maybe it's to long ??, it's in a bad spot I figure with water lying in the splashwell and all.
Will change her out this week and see what she does. Note the fuel filter next to the ball, do others do the same thing with having a filter. ??? http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...r/DSC02736.jpg Not to upset the GODS with those distance shots. *;D http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...r/DSC02732.jpg Home Sweat Home again. 8) http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...r/DSC02735.jpg |
Re: Lefty's Day on the V
great pics mike looks like a great day we also went out today and wind was brutal coming home from holgate inlet

Re: Lefty's Day on the V
That is an in line auto fuel filter and I have never seen them used on a boat before, I don't think it is a good idea for a few reasons, but if installed right and the flow is the right direction I dont think it is causing your problem.
Do you have a another fuel / water seperator ? or is that all you are running for a filter? If it is you need to make some updates my brother because that will not cut it. |
Re: Lefty's Day on the V
Have a inline filter as well inside the gunnel hatch. Will pull that as well and replace.
Yeah Lumber, the Pics. dont show it, but it was quite choppy in the Bay and in the Ocean. Didnt stay to long in the Ocean. Didnt wanna stall out and drift to England. ;D The ride home was ruff as well. |
