Well in about 5 hours I'm leaving to go deal with the MASS CONFUSION known as SPORTSMAN LOBSTER SEASON. Hopefully I can get a few bugs to show for it. You guys have fun, and save some thong pics for me ;D(except STINKY, he can hold off :o).

Re: MASS CONFUSION
Well my week started out good and then ended up plum SH!TTY. We got down there on TUESDAY and got the boat launched and made it out to my spot, that's when I realized I forgot my camera in the truck :-[. So we stayed out there TUESDAY night, got our limit WEDNESDAY morning without any problems. Went back in WEDNESDAY to my buddy's 43 foot sportfish(that he said i could use while I was down there), and I check my phone when we get in and now he won't let me use it >:(. So we head in and drop off our bugs at the truck and head back out again for another night of 5 of us on a 25' SEARAY cuddy cabin. We make our way out, except this time my buddy goes a different way that is really shallow so we spend a long time getting out due to idling and running aground. Get out there spend the night on the boat again. Wake up the next morning and it was super slim pickens on our spot, only got 10. Compared to the day before when we stopped at 50 and started culling em down to our 30 limit. So we start heading back in because were all exhausted and dead to the world. A storm blows in on the ATLANTIC side and it was pretty rough :o. We stop for 1 deep dive hoping to redeem ourselves, DIDN'T FIND SQUAT! Not even 1 bug in an area that was loaded last year. So we ended up heading in since it was rough out. Got the boat loaded and they got showers in the marina, I had to go clean the bottom of my buddys boat(although I shouldn't have after what he did). Got sick after cleaning the bottom of his boat(2 1/2 hours without anything to drink and diving isn't smart :-[).
Went and found a hotel to stay at so I could go down and do the DUVAL crawl with my nephew. He got to see his first transvestite :o, boy was he shocked and sick at the same time ;D. Got up the next day and spent 4 hours on DUVAL street shopping for everybody :(, and got in an accident leaving KEY WEST >:(. Lady had black outs over her tail lights and I couldn't see them at all in the sunlight. Didn't hurt her car at all, and my JEEP was driveable(only minor damage). She got out and seen there was no damage to her car and got back in her car and said I need to drive more defensive down there, and she left. So once that happened I decided to leave the KEYS in my tail lights, and hauled butt outta there. I made it about 2/3rds the way home, and my buddy that I went down with called me and said he was on his way home, but his wife had just gotten into a car wreck in his SUBURBAN and he needed me to come up and help out. Made it to the scene of the crash and she was fine, his truck was totaled but both of his dogs were thrown out of the SUBURBAN into traffic and got ran over. Needless to say he wasn't doing well. So you could say I had a very EVENTFULL week with no pictures to show for it. |

Re: MASS CONFUSION
One would have been a year old in SEPTEMBER and the other was only 3 1/2 months. Unfortunately the traffic was to busy to get there body's out of the road.

Re: MASS CONFUSION
We ended up with a few, not as many as we had hoped though. There was 2 more in the cooler that had already been cleaned when the picture was taken.

Re: MASS CONFUSION
Looks like ya'll did great!
My sister used to go down there when the season opened but the last two years hasen't. Is there any appreciable taste difference in the spiney and regular ones. I tried for 2 years to appreciate lobster and couldn't justify eating them over Blue Crabs till I got a cook book and made the butter dip with the livers. OH, MAN. that is the only way to eat them. |
Re: MASS CONFUSION
The FLORIDA bugs are actually a firmer meat compared to the MAINE bugs. And the MAINE bugs have a sweet taste to them compared to the FLORIDA bugs.

Re: MASS CONFUSION
Here's a couple of pics of the SUBURBAN, he just dropped it off at my house tonight. He's hoping to get the engine out and sell it to re-coup some of his loss. Anybody looking for a balanced and blueprinted 350 VORTEC. It's only got 8K miles on it since I built it for him.

Still unfortunate about the dogs though :'(. |
