Electric vs hydraulic trailer Brakes
 
Whats the drawback of electric brakes. Hydraulic i am familar with, but not electric. Which do you prefer and why?? thanks

Hydraulic surge work great on boats our size. Hydraulic over Electric work great on heavier boats live the Grady 282 that I tow occasionaly.

Straight electric brakes don't last too long on boat trailers.

ELectric over Hydraulic add about 700 to the project. Otherwise you'd see them on more boats, such as mine ;)

Electric is great on my camper!!

But I think they are a no no on a boat!! Wires and water don't mix!!

MJ is right. You can go with electric on the trailer, but you always have to remember to unplug her before you launch or you'll be sorry. I guess the fuse would probably blow before any serious damage occured. However, it's one more thing to remember to do before launching.

Never thought of that, thats enough reason to go with hydraulic, cause I will forget to unplug it? :P thanks
