Seat Boxes & Batteries...
DISCLAIMER: *I'm working way too much because of a "short staffing" situation. *If I've lost my mind, thats OK ;D
Water's too hot and wind blows too hard the little time I have off, so it's time to do a few projects and look forward to fall fishing. I'm think of building the elusive seat box, for the starboard side, and housing my batteries and battery switches in it. *My plan is for 1 house battery and 1 starting battery and the ability to parrallell them in a starting emergency. *Charging would be handled by a VSR and I'll also be installing an onboard charger at the same time. * I need (want) to add the second batt, switches, and charger. *I'm thinking to get some weight forward because while things are running great, at some point I'm going to put a few more pounds on the transom. As far as the battery location, my other option was the in floor well between the helmn chairs? How about a little wisdom, or even some opinions *;D from the board. I'm stuck at work for a lonnnng time, so lets hear it. ::) Edit to add: *This is the swich arrangement I'm thinking of. *It may be concealed inside the box, or I may mount in with the switches through the box, not sure yet. http://www.bepmarine.com/products/716-h100_lg.jpg Thanks |

Re: Seat Boxes & Batteries...
For a picture, would you put the batts under the helm seat, or in the floor just to the left?

Re: Seat Boxes & Batteries...
well being a owner that has jut about sunk, I would put under the seat!!
in the floor of a swamped boat they will be under water and god knows if they will short out? |
Re: Seat Boxes & Batteries...

Re: Seat Boxes & Batteries...
What batterys?? I use a hamster!!
I run just one battery, and it is in the rear port side, there was no water in the battery box, But it hasd a cover, but the box was coverted with salt |
Re: Seat Boxes & Batteries...
Just me, but I'd put the seat box on the port side, slide the cooler behind the helm chair and put the batteries in the seat box above the floor...put a lid on the top-back of the seat box, attach the switch panel TO the bottom of the lid close to hinges, so easy access when opened and keeps 'em high ;) ...batteries side by side forward in the box, leaves easy access space in back for more storage... ;D ;D ...

Re: Seat Boxes & Batteries...
Due to locations of fuses panels and other goodies, having batteries on starboard side is easier. I have a second big cooler for other side pending the mission. At a future date, there may be a bog on the port side that houses extened range fuel ;D

Re: Seat Boxes & Batteries...
port side is where they should be or center due to equal load when you are driving.
