Seat Boxes
I know it's not a new topic but the base on my back to back seats is rotten. *I'm thinking of making the base out of 3/4 " starboard. *I'd like to keep my back to backs but like to hear other's ideas.
My interior as it is now http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...P1010008-3.jpg A V21's base http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...16_G_sized.jpg Some of the changes I'd make http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ckey/seats.jpg I'd also like your ideas on inside supports I'd need. *Reel I'm looking for your input! Thanks Billy Mac ;D |
Re: Seat Boxes
The new ones are all plastic or composite and most likely cheaper than the Starboard. Now if you want a custom job, that's a different story.

Re: Seat Boxes
When I do make it I'll keep detailed records via pictures and written plans. We'll see how it turns out and then maybe,I said maybe. Billy Mac ;D

Re: Seat Boxes
Well I have used Starboard a lot and will be buying another full sheet this spring on the new stuff I will be building for the new boat!
Very easy Mac to use, but all has to be screwed toghter. Depending what you want for a tackle box in the seat it might be better to buy one alreasdy made and just cut hole and install. I want coustom like the one CB and I buitfor the V and will go coustom again!! http://www.wellcraftv20.com/gallery/...icture_203.jpg http://www.wellcraftv20.com/gallery/...icture_206.jpg http://www.wellcraftv20.com/gallery/...icture_216.jpg http://www.wellcraftv20.com/gallery/...icture_220.jpg http://www.wellcraftv20.com/gallery/...icture_229.jpg |
you taking orders Mac? add me to the list

Mac...I like your ideas about addin' doors and built-in tackle box...I made my boxes outta treated ply and covered w/ white vinyl..If I were gonna remake w/ starboard, I'd use 3/4" sides and top...MJ's right about screwin' it all together, so ya might wanna add some inside corner-cleats to beef up the corners...screw cleats to deck, then screw box to those cleats ..West has a thru-deck butter-fly type SS fastener that I'd strongly recommend over just screwin' to the deck...thy'll be expensive comin' from West, but use 'em unless ya wanna be repairin' it later...
