your motor doesn't look bad at all to have been under. get some oil in those holes quickly. MMO would be best in the spray type if you can find it and spray down the cylinder walls and get the other head off and oil her as well. then open the carb butterflysand spray those fullof oil too.

i poured mmo in plug holes about two weeks ago. guess i should pull off other head and clean up all 6? you think the crank bearings will be allright? i dont wanna pull the motor apart that far. but, on the other hand, i only wanna fix it once. and what are those relays on top left of motor? are they for tilt/ trim?tx

Re: submerged evinrude 175

most likely thay are ok but not sure, but you may need to pull it apart hone lightly and then just use new rings. But you will need to get those holes oiled asap to stop rust. and then try to get it to turn. may need to put a breaker bar on the flywheel nut and get the motor to turn over. I've beaten a Mercury's Crank with a hammer to get loose once, once it can loose the motor ran fine afterwards. goes to show you never know.

Once you've got all them oiled then take the cover off the top of the flywheel and get a wrench on it and try to get it turning. Once it starts to turn work it back and forth and keep oiling till it finally turns all the way around. Yeah those relays are for your Tilt /Trim

hey skools, when i took cover off of flywheel i was expecting to find a large bolt like on my 79. not so, instead there is a little bitty bolt. and six more little one around the flywheel holding it on. i am afraid that if i torque on them they will break. what should i do?
