FOUR STROKE 150 HP DATA

-V-21, 1993
-Ran the Yamaha 150 HP Four Stroke for the first time this afternoon. 1 hour on it so it will loosen up a lot.
-The following data applies:
-- 4000 RPM 40 MPH (MPH is GPS WAAS, no current)
-- 4600 RPM 46 MPH
-- 56OO RPM 45 MPH (wide open throttle)
-Red Line RPM is 6000. I will be putting another prop on her next week and see if more RPM helps or hurts me.

-Only ran WOT for 45 seconds because of break in rules, but she is strong.

-One quiet engine with the little splash platform in to hold out noise.

-4000 RPM should be about 6.5 GPH. As soon as I get it broken in I will have the boys hook up the lap top to her and I can report real fuel useage.

Sounds Great !! I am in the market for the identical engine. If you don't mind answering, how much did the 150 Yammy run you ? I am debating a new boat or a new engine on my V20. Thanks in advance. ( If you don't want to answer publicly please IM me )

Sailboat,

-- 4000 RPM 40 MPH (MPH is GPS WAAS, no current)
-- 4600 RPM 46 MPH
-- 56OO RPM 45 MPH (wide open throttle)
-Red Line RPM is 6000.

Sailboat -- How is that possible ??? Is this all with the same prop? What prop specs?

MPG IS FABULOUS :)

Re: FOUR STROKE 150 HP DATA

-Current prop size is 14 1/4 diameter by 17 pitch. Thinking of doing 15 pitch. That should be 400 RPM and take her to around 6000 RPM.
-Cost Retail on the 150 F/S is $12,500. Add the gauges, harness and prop which brings the retail in around $14,000 without labor.
-I've got about $12,000 actually invested by the time it is all over. A tad bit crazy, but we only live once!

WOW,

This world is getting a tad bit crazy. I just was quoted a brand new Hydra Sports walk around with the Yammy 150 FS at 30K. That means the boat is only 16K.
Now I'm really confused.

but I believe that you will get plenty of years out of that engine. My 88 130 kicks over real nice at 16 years old

Re: FOUR STROKE 150 HP DATA

STRIP -- I believe you get a deal on the motor when it comes with a new boat. That and watch how that 30g quote grows by the time they get done charging you for "this and that".

SAIL -- I don't see how you can only get 45 mph at 5600, when/if you can get 46 mph at 4600 -- with the same prop. ???

Are you sure you are not getting 30 mph at 4000, and 40 mph at 4600, and 45 at 5600?

We have the same boat , and I have a '94 150 yama 2 stroke.

17 pitch prop @ 4600 rpm

(with a 2.0 gear ratio)
http://www.yamaha-motor.com/products...cat=High+Power

average prop slip 6 - 10% gives you a theoretical speed of around 33 - 35 mph.

prop calculator
http://continuouswave.com/cgi-bin/propcalc.pl

Prop could be cupped, underrated, or modified to give you a higher pitch which would account for additional speed.

Re: FOUR STROKE 150 HP DATA

46 MPH AT 4600 RPM
45 MPH AT 5600 RPM

HOW ???

Is the hub slippin at 5600 rpm ???
Is the prop ventilating or cavitating at 5600 rpm???
Is the tilt or trim different at 5600 rpm ???

Somethin ain't right here ???
