COMBAT Striper Fishing

Captain out of Oregon Inet in NC does charters. *When he fishes the shoals around the inlet he calls it COMBAT fishing. *Puts his rig (and life/lives) on the line daily. *He managed to snap some photos the other day of some rollers around the boat. *Check it out! * He's one crazy mutha! *V-20's handle rough water, but in this a V-20 would become AR-20 *;D Oh yeah, did I mention that every year there are a handful of CC's that get flipped and rescued in those very waters (by the Combat captain no less) Very last pic is of a rescue - see the guy sitting on top of the upside down boat? ;D Very treacherous!

What kind of boat is he in ??? And how big a striper you got to catch to make swamping or rolling your boat worth it. God forbid one of those guys with the loose waders and no life preservers gets knocked overboard.
Must be some really big stripers in those shoals :o
Yea I agree BR, crazy Mutha

Looks like the Columbia River in Washington state where the CG trains life savings crews.

That's Capt. Rick Caton. He's got a good reputaion for putting the crew on fish. I don't know the guy, just what I read on the Tidalfish, VA. angler board.

Re: COMBAT Striper Fishing

I follow his website year-round. *Bottom fishing for grouper, tiles, black bass in spring and summer, with crabbing, blues, spanish, kings, even croakers, flounder, trout, etc. *Then in winter stripers, the guy does it all. *

He is not an offshore charter, but occasionally he pulls a high speed bait on the way to bottom fishing. *He's put some monster wahoo in the boat that way. *And, any time he runs across a good weedline he'll stop and let his customers have at some mahi.

I like his style - he absolutely does not put up with any whining or crap! *He's got a $hit list for anybody who complains or doesn't pay on time and those never get to fish with him again! EVER!

One of these days I'm going with him on one of those deep water dropping bottom fishing experiences *8)

Re: COMBAT Striper Fishing

;D Nope, I'm not into combat fishing! But I do want to do a deepwater drop sometime! Far, far, away from the shoals! The only shoals I want to see is online or from the sand. Thats gotta be scary with that big 42fter bouncing on the bottom...
