Windshield leaks

I have noticed some "gaps" in the gaskets on the glass winshield. They leak water into the aluminum frames which then runs out onto the helm/passenger dash areas. I intend to caulk the gaps with black 4200.

On the inside bottom edge of the alum frames, I was thinking of running a bead of white Lifecaulk to keep out any water that still gets by. Has anyone else done this?

Re: Windshield leaks

If I wanted to get wet, I'd have bought a center console! ;D (No offense CB and others).

I just dont want to be soaking up a bunch of water running down my helm all day. I have also noticed that some of the water runs down the teak edges of the hatch opening (which MJ you dont have?) and somehow gets into the laminate below the cuddy door. The glass/wood is a little swelled and cracked in those two areas.

MJ- BTW I got a great new wax for you to try! :P

Re: Windshield leaks

fillet,
I removed the starbd. windshield because the screws holding it down were stripped. Cleaned the surface, and epoxied the holes. Applied 5200 to bottom of winshield, drilled new holes for mounting, and screwed it down tight. When I screwed the support bar to the windshield, I must have picked up the wrong screw. Broke windshield.
Moral of the story : 5200 and get on with life.......
