I'm think I'm throwing in the towel

Today I've realized a few things while I was working on my project boat. 1) I've had this boat since May and have done very little to it because of a limited amount of time, space to work, weather, and other things that seem to keep popping up. 2) if I keep this boat, it probably wont see the water for another two to five years. 3) Because of 1, 2, and the fact that I'm trying to put what freetime I have into it I've only been on the water ONCE this whole summer (that really sucks :( )
Because of this realization I'm starting to think I need to change course and find a newer V20 (or V21) that's seaworthy and doesn't need quit so much work. The hard truth (for me) is I just don't have the time to keep up with everything around the house, work, and part time daddy duties while trying to restore a boat. So, if anyone is looking for a project boat I'm willing to give up mine (just not the trailer and I will have a V20 or V21 of my own on it). I have pics of the boat in the gallary under my username if anyone wants to take a look. It's shining features is it has a good windshield and the originial bimini top (though not in the best of shape). It's just about completly stripped down. All the jerry rigged wiring has been pulled, the steering pulled, the gas tanks are out (wouldn't recommend them to be reused) and it's about ready for someone to start the repairs. Best of all is I'll take no more than 100 bucks for someone to take it....ok, ok, so I'll give it away! :) I just need it off of the trailer and I would rather see someone who is willing to restore it get it instead of having to junk it. I think it has a lot of potential for the right person and I still have the parts I've removed (although I'm throwing the wiring away, it's junk). I'd even be willing to tow it not more than a day's drive from Virginia Beach, but that would have to be worked out. The botton line is, I rather not see this hull got to waste. If anyone is interested, or wants more details, let me know.

Rap, I just looked at that boat you mentioned. I wish it was a cuddy instead of a CC. :( This boat is in my hometown and sounds like it would be a great deal, but I really want a cuddy instead of a CC so I'm going to keep looking. Thanks for the thought, though. Besides, I still need to get my boat off my trailer :-[

Jeff,

I know what you are going through, it's tough. Most everything you said sounded like me. I work 2-3 weekends a month as a second job. It really is hard to find time for this kind of stuff. Iv'e been working on mine since New Years, and I'm looking to get it in the water for Labor Day. It takes a lot of your valuable time.

With that said, I don't blame you. I'm not sure I would do it again, maybe if I had a shop to work in and a second boat. Anyway, this might be for the best, spend less time fixxi'n and more time out on the water.

I'll keep my eyes peeled. Good luck

I took some pics yesterday after I cleaned up a bit, but I ran out of time to post them. I'll try to post them here tonight after work. Thanks for the support! :)

Jeff, that post sounded like me also. I wasn't even going to stray from my '72 but the '94 fell in my lap by accident and changed my mind quick-like.

Keep checking that FS section. I'll be looking around and posting some things I see in there.

Good luck bud!

Jeff, is it possible to maybe farm out the most time consuming stuff you need done to your hull? You're going to have to fork out dough to buy a new(er) hull but you won't know what new troubles you may be getting into until it's too late. Maybe the cost of farming out some work on your hull, a hull that you've identified all the problems with, isn't as high as you think. Figure you're going to spend $2,500 for a decent "new" hull, find out how much that would buy you in repairs to your existing hull. If you can get help squaring your hull away, you might even end up spending less $$$ when you factor in the potential for new problems with a new(er) hull.
