Trim Tabs!
I had been watching an ebay auction on some trim tabs, but had to go out and fix a generator so I wasn't around for the auction end. I had no idea, but Laura, my better lookin' half, watched it for me and they showed up via UPS today! That was SO COOL!

Re: Trim Tabs!
Don't have 'em on my Steplift yet, but had them on the Grady. Trim tabs are da bomb! While some hulls don't 'need' them as much as others, in my opinion, all boats are improved by having them. My crew likes to shift around while underway, so for me, one of the best benefits is roll leveling, with pitch leveling a close second. Push the bow down with the tabs, let the sharp bow entry knife through the waves and blast across that tight chop! Yeeeeeehahhhh! ;D

Re: Trim Tabs!
Havis,
With the stern so low, it looks like your boat could get airborne if you dropped the hammer. With twin 140s, you just might be able to. ;) Actually, it doesn't look as low as I expected. The bow looks high, but the waterline doesn't look any more than a few inches below 'normal'. Hull looks nice and shiny. 8) |
Re: Trim Tabs!
Havis can you send a picture of the boat in the water fom the rear and a closer side shot to me in email?

Re: Trim Tabs!
hey by the way Havis this will fix your round transom issue with twins too. Just one on the outside of each motor they will make your twins straight.

Re: Trim Tabs!
I've fixed the curved transom issue, just not the trim issue. Zero negative trim. That's one of the big reasons I'm looking at a bracket. Plus, maybe the flotation in the bracket would lift the stern a couple of inches back to 'normal'. Since that picture was taken I added 48 gallons of fuel mid-ship and stuck the 2 group 31 batteries in the cuddy. That helped a little. Thanks for the comment on the shiny hull! I had spent the previous weekend compounding and waxing after I brought her home from Florida. It REALLY looked good! Almost new. Got rid of the water line racing stipe, too.
Skool, I don't have any pics from the rear in the water. I'll be installing the trim tabs this coming weekend and, of course there will be a sea trial! I'll get some pics for you then. |
