Check Out This 83'
HI im new to this site so i figured i would say whats up and post some pics of my boat,This boat was gave to me by my grandparents but it didint run.So i got her running after some long hard work by me and my freind. We cleaned the carbs about 5 times untill we got it right(she sat up for about 6-7 years) and replaced the water deflectors in the heads and a couple of cables later boom i'v got a boat!Iv got about $400 tied up in this boat The only thing that sucks is the floor is soft in some places and im not sure how to replace it But but for a boat that is as old as i am she runs Great.

Re: Check Out This 83'
Hey, Smokey!!!...welcome to da board...GREAT lookin' '83 ya got there...you VERY fortunate to have such a nice boat given to you like that...your grandparents must be great folks... :D...nice big bimini-top, looks in good shape...even the trailer is in great shape for a FL native ;D...
Two thoughts about your boat...appears only one line goin' into motor-head at fuel connect, so VRO may have already been disconnected which is GOOD!!.Automatic oiling systems on those model Evinrude/Johnsons have history of failure...if you're mixing oil/gas, BE GLAD!! ;D Hard to tell, but looks like out-rigger bases are installed backwards...poles appear to be comin' up on wrong angle...maybe I'm just seein' 'em wrong.... ;) ::)... Floor's gonna be a few $$ unless you're good w/fiberglass and don't mind some work, but startin' out w/a FREEBIE you're ahead of the game no matter what!!... ;D... Where in Fl are you?...anything we can do, just holler!!... |
Re: Check Out This 83'
Good eyes there RAP they are in backwards. I wondered what i was seeing there but you put the finger on it. Still nice looking boat. And yes if the VRO isn't disconnected then i would take it off and premix the gas/oil.

Re: Check Out This 83'
Maybe the outriggers work better that way ??? ???
Heck, the antennas look long enough to double as outriggers! |
Re: Check Out This 83'
Yeh i wonderd about the out riggers too,I dont use them nor have i ever.I just seen them like that on another boat like mine and figured they went like that. And my engine dosent have vro.I am runing off a 6 gallon tank *and it sure dont last vary long.I have to clean out the onboard fuel. I live in Lakeland Fl. on a lake so its not so bad on 6 gallons ($18.00) a boat ride. My neighbor gave me the top ,he builing a t-top for his boat.

Re: Check Out This 83'
Gave you the boat, gave you the top, Man i need to get in the same line YOU'RE standin' in!!...see if you can get somebody to give you another gas tank... ;) ;D...Smokey, you got a real nice rig, there!!... 8)...
If you don't already have one, get an Accu-Mix bottle ($3.99)...shows exactly how much oil to add according to the gas you just added...had one for years...works great!! ;D |
Re: Check Out This 83'
