Winter close up advise
 

Hey you guys, getting ready to put old school away and was looking for some info. Other than fogging the engine and changing lower unit oil, battery removal and filling fuel tank and adding stabilizer to it what else do you guys do to the v20's to close them up. Is there anything you found specific to these crafts that needs attention before storage.
Also I have for the first time permanantly mounted GPS and FF so I can't take them off for winter like I used to. Will those electronics and displays be ok stored in the cold?

Willy, I use mine 12 months of the year...COLD winters in SC(I know, not like up North)...have seen 20s for weeks...never had bad effect on electronics...there's an ''operating temperature range'' in the owners manual, but I don't think you'll get near the low end of that...if you do, time to heat up that super-model!!!... ;) ;D 8)...

Oh yeah...mighta mentioned this B4, but store w/foot tilted down to drain water out prior to FREEZIN'... ;)...

Thanks Rap, as far as specific v20 issues such as water that holds up anywhere in particular that is a danger during freezes any thoughts

And what do you do as far as batteries during that time Rap

I store my batteries in the basement, OFF the concrete floor, and give them a little charge once or twice.

Willy, like I mentioned, mine gets used all winter, so all 4 batteries are always plugged into the two onboard battery chargers...nice and toasty all winter long...ready to GO!!... ;D...

That sounds like the way to go for me Rap I have to check into one of those onboards, right now I just charge both of mine with a regular battery charger

Willy, Raps got that bow motor you know. If you have power near your boat during winter storage, the Guest multi charging units work great. I have one on mine for the summer time. Mine is stored in a barn with no electric so I pull my batteries charge them once a month even though I don't think they need it that often. I also had mice get in my boat the first winter, so I pulled everything out and put it inside the cottage for storage this year. Your electronics will be fine in the cold just keep them dry. Willy, Macs right...the electric trollin' motor requires two (group 31s), then crankin' and accessories batts...Guest 2620 on the TM batts (10 amps each batt) and Guest 2611 on other two (5 amps each)...couldn't be happier with 'em...close as possible to an outlet and short HEAVY-DUTY drop-cord, specially for the 2620...

Not to grind a point, but I think these chargers improve batt service life, too...the 31s are 5 yrs old...longest I ever had TM batts... :)...

If I had to deal w/all the Super Models you have, then I'd get the hot tub... ;D...can you recommend a brand they like?
