Need a camera for the V-20

I'm going to buy a digicam for general use and documenting boat stuff. Don't tell me to do a search 'cause the dang cameras will change while I'm typing this. I just want something simple and easy and quick to use that is decent quality. Canon seems to get the best reviews from what I've read. Price range for just the camera is $150 to $225, maybe a hair more if its really good. Also don't want to "outgrow" it over night. Was initially looking at something like the Nikon CoolPix 4600 but I read it's slow. Canon A540 or 620? Heck, it's easy to select boat electronics.

Well all the pic I take are done with a Kodak 2.0 pix and all come out great!!

I bought my daughter a 4.0 Kodak for xmas, It take's great pic's!! I think it was like $179?

Then I just print the ones I want, and save the rest in the computer and always back up on CD!!

Any way what I am saying is that you can't go wrong with the Kodak's IMO

Good Luck with what ever you get!!

Either of those would be fine. Mine was top or near the top of the line when new, 3 mega pixels. To me the pictures are stillgood quality. Post lots of photos! Bill Mc ;D

Just bought a Kodak C643 yesterday. This is my first diital except a built-in one in my cam corder. That has a 256 memory. The C643 is a 6.1 MP camera for $229.00. You can use either two AA batteries or rechargable ones. I bought a camera dock for $49.00 and a 1 gig memory card for $39.00 which has a $15.00 rebate. I got the whole package at Staples. I also liked the Canon A620.

Airslot,

FWIW, we got a Kodak EasyShare Z730 with 5.0 mega pixels with a 1 GB card and it has been a great camera. It was a gift from my in-laws, so I don't know what it cost, but I'm quite certain it's in the range you're considering.

I use a Fuji FinePix F10. *It was pretty expensive when I bought it, but the price should be down some now. *I bought it for its low light capabilities. *I wanted to be able to take pictures in enginerooms without the flash. *You get much better detail without the flash.

This is with the flash:

Without, still a little shakey as it was on a moving boat:

It takes nice outdoor pictures as well:

More indoor pictures without the flash:

This one is neat, I took it at night and it was so dark I couldn't see what I was taking a picture of. *I had to use the focus assist light to figure out where the camera was pointed:

Pretty cool 76GM, didn't know that about the flash thing.

Re: Need a camera for the V-20

Forgot to mention the battery life, I charge my camera something like once a month. *It's amazing considering the last one only got about 30-45 shots on a charge. *This one gets 350-500 depending on resolution. * The video quality is excellent as well. *I just looked up the price, it isn't as low as I thought. *The camera still costs between $330 and $400. *There is a $260 Buy it Now auction on Ebay. www.newegg.com has one for $215. I've bought from them before, they have very good service and are trustworthy.

Did you ever get the mildew off your canvas, Blue?

The only advice I can give is get one that is rechargable. I have a 6.6 megapixels Cobra DC6415. that uses 2 AAA batterys only. It eats batterys like crazy!! If you really need to take pics than you need to take a box of replacement batterys with you. The built in flash really is battery hungry! It takes great Pixs, just wish it was cheaper to operate.
