Should I buy this
I found what seems to be a good deal on a 1993 Grady White maybe 20' bow rider. $5500
Not sure on the lenth but between 19' and 20' It has a Yamaha V4 130hp Boat seems to be pretty clean? What do you guys think? I am in Virginia Beach VA and boats go for a lot more here then boats down south. I even thought about selling my 23' Wellcraft Fisherman Center console. I really like the boat but upgrading from the seadrive will cost a small fortune I figure the V4 is probabaly great on gas and is extremely reaible compared to my seadrive even though my seadrive has not given me any problems I also found a 1988 25' sea ox cuddy cabin repowered with a 2004 225 evinrude 4 stroke(suzuki), owner says less the 100hours. It is on a bracket and it is $13,000. If I repower my boat with a new 4 stroke 200hp suzuki. I figure I will be looking at over $10,000, and that getting used controls. Honestly $10,000 sounds low when I think about it. What should I expect to pay for a complete turn key repower going with like a sukuzi 4 stroke. I alreadly have a bracket! I believe I can sell by 23' Wellcraft for over $7000. One boat guy said he thought $12,000 but I don't really know. Share your thoughts thanks |
Re: Should I buy this
A 1993 Grady White 19' tournament in good shape with a good motor should sell from $8000 (on the very low end) and up. My buddy just bought a 1991 in awesome shape with factory full enclosure that was never even used for $9000. It looks like its a little flatter at the transom (less deadrise than the V20) but it still rides nice. We haven't had it in any slop yet though.

Re: Should I buy this
In my humble opinion I think the 23 wellcraft is a better riding boat and you will loose lots of space with the smaller grady. I also think the grady like whalers are over rated and I have had both at one time or another.I dont know anything about 4 strokes but I see low hours carbed 2 strokes for $4 k or so that look like new and these are 200 to 225's. A neighbor of mine just repowered his little 19 Mako center console with a very heavy 4 stroke Honda 150 that puts the scuppers right at the water line and he has to put tabs on it . He had a low hours 99 Johnson 150 that he sold for $3,000 that would scoot..I would of bought it but I had nothing to put it on..Frank

Re: Should I buy this
The price on the Grady is a great deal if thats what you are looking for. I also think Grady White is over rated, they are well built just not worth the money in my opinion. They have the same issues as less expensive boats, ie: Transom, Fuel Tank Etc... I also think a 130 on that boat would be a bit of a dog. For the money if it is what the guy says it is you cant go wrong.

Re: Should I buy this
The 150hp Yamaha on my buddies GW 19' pushes it just over 40mph to around 43 I think. About the same as my V-21 w/ 150hp Yamaha. I don't know what the 130hp would do, but I would think around maybe 35mph WOT?

Re: Should I buy this
I was thinking it was a good deal. Do you guys think I could buy the boat and sell it and make a couple of dollars?
The boat is a 19' Tournment bow rider pretty clean over all and the outboards is very clean. Comes with a single alxe trailer. Are those yamaha V4's very fuel friendy thanks |
