How do I find the owner of a boat
 

There has been a boat sitting in a place near me for 4 months parked illegally.

The boat has an expired FL registertion expired in 2005

the trailer has a FL tag with no expirtion stickers

I want to buy the boat, can I find out who owns it by the numbers on the boat?

I live in Virginia. The boat is in Hampton, Virginia

Take the numbers to the boat registry and they can find for you.
If they give you any crap, tell them that the boat is on privet property and they no have permission and it needs to be moved!
A friend did that here and Ma. and they told him the name, and town, he looked up phone in a directory

if it's Fl reg you will have to call Fl to find out, state to state don't share boat owner info. I found a boat in the a yard that looked to have been there several yrs. stopped looked and last reg was 1982 so i ask the house if they wanted it they said not ours take it so i took home then found the orig owner called he said keep it i'll send you the title and a bill of sale.

Can you just put a lein on the boat? If nobody responds in 30 days, the DMV gives you the title or something like that. I've never done this, but I've heard of people doing it. I'm sure it's not that easy but it's worth looking in to.

The tag number is BR549. Hammer you can run this tag and find out who it belongs to right. Let me know what you find. ;D

to put a lien it has to be a motor vechile parked on your property. This boat is not on my proprty but it is illegally parked.

I think you can do a tower's lein or something if it is not on your property. Meth heads dump cars in the hills out here all of the time. There are people who make a living finding all of these cars and putting leins on them to get the title. They tow the cars to a lot and sell them or part them out.
