Went out last night
 

after work, got out on the water about 4:45. Trolled around until dark (about 7:30). Got one spanish mackerel about 3 lbs, released it as I thought that would get me a something bigger..NOT. Got another smaller one drifting after dark. seas were about 2-3. nice night... but still nothing worth posting. >:( But looking at the post thread I don't know.. unless you guys are holding out! ::)

Oh yea... also pretty neat. got buzzed by the Coast Guard lear jet.. wish I had gotten a pic. They came by about 6:00 or so banked hard about 300 feet up. I waved at them and then they were gone... about 4 minutes later they came right back over us the same way.... Only this time they were about 100 feet up! I could see the co-pilots face! Always something different. I think they were training or putting in some hours. Maybe there were square grouper somewhere around us! :o ::)

I was out Fluking with MJ on a friends boat a couple weeks ago and we kept getting buzzed by a CG Helo. At first it looked like they were looking for someone, but I think they too were getting some hours in. They kept flying directly overhead on our drift, then just a very short distance away, they'd hover down almost to water level. Couldn't have been more than 20 ft up. Pretty cool site when them rotors start their loud slapping and the prop wash just sprays up everywhere. We listened in on their frequency but it was just basic quadrant report chatter.

Square groupers, dont need a pole just a net. Never heard that one. Have you ever come across any rafts floating out there, comin in from cuba... Z

As a matter of fact... I did come across what was left of a raft years ago. it was a classic "castaway" type thing made from logs and wood tied together... nobody on it, but it made me think about how desperate people must be to take a chance like that... :-/

Alright, I just made FULL member... with all of the rights and privliges afforded thereto... ;D ;D 8)... see how easy to please I am..
