Summerize?

I will soon be leaving FL for the summer! Going to leave boat here on trailer with cover on it - out in the sun until I return next fall. Got any suggestions as how to best prepare the boat? It's been fun boating in FL!

Not having a garage, I alway have to use a cover for my boats. I have found that one of the boat covers that is almost shiney silver will reflect some of the heat.

Are you leaving the boat where someone will keep an eye on the cover for you? Wind and rain can wreek havock.

I would think that you could find a boat storage place in Fla that has covered parking for decent $.

Storage down here is actually pretty pricey, they prey upon all of the northerners for outrageous storage fees. Where is the boat currently located?

If yer not gettin' back B4 hurricane season, better get some mobile-home anchors and lash 'er to the ground ;) ... a lot of times covers fail...ya might do just as well to cover the seats to keep the sun of them and leave the rest to weather... 8) ...

Seems like ya just got there Gary... :-/ ...

take all canvas off and store away from sunlight, Have the boat shrink wrapped, with vents to let the heat out.

When you come back take the cover off slow and easy, you will be able to reuse it later!! I have a friend that had his done and then used it as a custom cover for 3 years, before he had to do it again ;)

I'd say MJ is on to something.

Plus don't forget to "fog" the engine and put fuel stabilizer in the tank.

Or you could drop it off on you way north and I will keep her in running order for ya. ;)

Re: Summerize?

Just make sure when you have it shrinked that they come down the side of the boat some. This will give you a little extra.
Just pull hard to get it to stretch enough to get off one side and she will slip right off.
Putting it back on takes a bit but it will go!
