gel coat chipped

im sure there are numerous threads about this topic but i have a few places on my boat where the gel coat has been chipped off and you can see the fiberglass. my father said to use white marine tex. what do you all think? i know gel coat is a type of paint but can you brush it on a spot after you have repaired it with some sort of epoxy or just use a colored epoxy or what. ???

thanks in advance for your input

I just use *formula 27 in white and it matches my gelcoat fine. If yours is tinted a certain color you can get the colors to tint the 27 as well. Boaters world.

Sand and voila! Done! 8)

Yes Marine Tex will work fine. Just use a single edged rasor or plastic putty knife to final apply. Be sure to clean the dings with alcohol or laquer thinner to remove oils and mildews. Great stuff !!!
