Transom Angle
 

I'm going to put on a full transom swim platform (came with the boat & finally going to rig it up). What angle brackets would I need to make it sit correctly (level)?

Also, I was thinking of mounting it as low as possible without affecting the drive - any issues you can think of, like burying it on hole shot, etc.?

Oh yeah - it's an 82 I/O and on pg 5 of the gallery. Any thoughts, advice, experience?

If I remember correctly, I believe the people at Wellcraft told me my transom was 15*...

As for the bracket placement, be careful going too low or too high. There's a range that you'll want to stay within and that range is largely determined by the range of height that your motor bracket is capalbe of adjusting to.

BGA, it's a swim platform, not a bracket, LOL. I would mount it high enough to clear the outdrive in it's full trim up position for obvious reasons. In reality, the platform needs to be out of the water when at rest. You need to anchor up somewhere calm and measure the the distance from the top of the transom to the water level, then give it a few more inches. Then trim all the way up and see if you still have clearance. I'm willing to bet your outdrive will stick out of the water somewhat.

Here's a picture that might help. It's 12" from the highest point on the outdrive to the underside of the rub rail and 13.75" from the top of the platform to the unserside of the rub rail.

As long as there's a good boarding-ladder, go as high as ya need to...I do recall seein' one w/the center hinged to allow trim-up ...

I remember that one too RAP. It was divided into 3 sections and the center was hinged near the transom to allow full trim up.

Now that looks like an interesting option. No expensive brackets below the waterline either. I'm going to PM him for details, thanks.
