Low Bandwidth

MJ,

I understand from one of your posts that we are running low on bandwidth. I don't know if you have requested contributions before, but I have a suggestion. I am a member of a very active BMW board (www.bimmerboard.com) They have a Paypal contribution link that members can go to and donate funds to keep the board afloat. Folks who donate get a roundel (little BMW emblem) next to their signature name for everyone to see they supported the board. With all the support the board offers for DIY projects, people save a bunch of $$ on repairs so they donate freely. Would it be possible to do something like that here to offset the cost of hosting the board? Just my .02

If I'm behind the times on this and there is something in place already, please let me know.

Thanks flounder,
I have some stuff working right now, and I hope that this fall we will be upgarding to a new board and more space.
The start up cost is a little $$ but not bad! So I hope to be fine with it all.

I am not to comfortable excepting money and giving people a status symbol near the name, makes for some to feel there above others. We are all equal here! But it is a good Idea and if it works there great!

If money gets to be a issue I might ask for donations for a auction or something to go to keep the lights on. But for now we have pleanty of bandwith till fall to kep going as is, and money is fine.

But thanks for your concern and offer! And that goes for all you guys! I know all I need to do is ask and you would be there!!

Thanks!!

Oh yeah, bandwidth...if it comes to it, I'll support it anyway...but IMHO that's one thing wrong w/ THT ... lotta those snobs think if you got no wheel, you are lowlife...and if you do have wheel, your poop no smell ... no idea how much we need, but would it work thru tournament entries or just folks who wanna just step up and send a check ... keeps a level playin' field ...

We never did auction that date w/MJ :o ... now that'll get the money FLOWIN'!!... ;D ;D ;D ... if you win, you get a FREE tub of axle-grease

:) ... and you gonna NEED it :o ...

Re: Low Bandwidth

Interesting...........

Us snobs over on the Bimmerboard never come down on on anyone who hasn't contributed. Those boards are much more about repairs and sharing info that most folks wouldn't have a clue about. The money savings between DIY and "take it to the dealer" is huge. Its just a way of showing support for the board, not about I'm better than you because I have a little symbol by my name. Auctions, dates with MJ, etc...... all work if they help support the board. I say post a "support the board" link and let people donate as they see fit, anomalously (when the need for $$ is at hand).
