 Beaufort NC Nov 20
3 of us Hit the northwest places at around sun up and nothing after 2 hours so we ran out to the Big Rock around 32 miles and picked up 6 kings from 38 to 44 inches on yellow and silver Huntington drone spoons on planers and downriggers and 3 medium amberjacks both around 35inches.Just as We decided to come in a nice Mahi hit the way back surface line so we rigged up with 6 Boone dolphin feather rigs in green and blue and after an hour only picked up one 11 pounder and lost a nice bull right at the boat that was an easy 25 lbs. On the return we drifted around AR 315 right off atlantic beach and picked up 17 nice sea bass and one was over 5lbs and an octopus (what a mess he made) that swallowed the hook. The water is getting colder and the kings are staying out around 16 to 20 plus miles but last week they were right along the beach in around 24 feet of water. Some mornings the fog is so thick its 9 or so before it burns off so If you dont have radar dont risk running in it as half of the old trawlers down here dont have working lights. I hope we have a good run of yellow and black fin tuna in a few weeks off cape lookout followed by big stripers which should all be close to shore so guys in small boats can get a shot at them..Frank |
