My newest
Here's the newest to my stable. It's a 96 PROLINE 183 flats boat with an ill 150HP MERCURY XR6(previous owner mixed it 100:1 instead of 50:1 :o).
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t.../PROLINE-1.jpg http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t.../PROLINE-2.jpg And the BOB'S MACHINE SHOP low water pickup and hydraulic jack plate. As well as the MERCURY high five prop. http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t.../PROLINE-3.jpg Let the beatings commence. Here's one similar to it. http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/3/2/87838932.htm |
Re: My newest
Whats the low water pick up, Never heard of that??
Boat looks good! So what about the motor? what did the 100:1 do to it? Thing must fly with a 150!! and I am not saying anything about it being a f a g boat till I see you with a fly rod!http://syncboard.com/albums/album02/rainbow_smiley.gif |
Re: My newest
Those Mercs will run like a scalded dawg on 100:1, for a little while.
Thats a nice looking boat, I'd like to have one like that to use for bass fishing and inshore coastal fishin. |
Re: My newest
I guess you will be able to report to the smart tab section soon also.
Gee I count like 8 thur hulls?? what they all for?? |
Re: My newest
Well the thru hulls are for the 2 livewells, plus the extra large release tank. I mainly got it to repair and hopefully turn a profit. FLATS boats here in FLORIDA are golden! The guy I got it from said he let out at 62, but it was still climbin in speed. He didn't run it longwith the 100:1, so hopefully it's saveable. He never heard noise's,it justshut off he said. I pulled the flywheel off and the magnets had come out and tore up the stator with it :o. But there is a squeak in one of the main bearings when you turn it over. I'm hopefully going to get the powerhead off next week. I'll either rebuild this one, or repower with my 140 EVINRUDE or my 80 150 MERC I got.At least this one has a rock solid hull with NO flex anywhere. Those are trim master hydraulic tabs on it, Ithought they were smart tabs at first to. The low water pickup is to raise the engine up higher to get the prop to cavitate some to boost the top end without losing water to the engine, and it also lets you run the engine in shallower water to idle across the flats.
And there will not be any flyrods on it on my watch! |
Re: My newest
Sounds like you got a good deal and a plan! Hope it all works out!!

Re: My newest
That braided cable on the lower unit, is that the water pick up you mentioned ???, never seen that before. ??
|
Re: My newest
Yep, the braided line is for the water pickup. They use them mostly on high performance type hulls, race and high speed apps.
Go to this site and click on the "BIG FOOT Nose Cone Kit With Low Water Pick-Up" for a pic of it. http://www.bobsmachine.com/ The grean shows where the old pickups were, the blue shows where the front added portion is, and the red shows the new pickups. http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...aterpickup.jpg |
Re: My newest
Well here's MY NEWEST's newest, it's a 95 150HP MERCURY EFI XRi. The only bad part was it came with the boat, but I've got a 81 150 2.0L MERC to go on it. Unfortunately though the boat has a failing transom :-[, so I'm gonna have to plate it to sell it(I don't feel like rebuilding a bass boat transom). My video came out like crap, so here's the video that the seller made of it running.
