I think I did good
but I hope you guys will tell me if I got ripped.
I had this entire week planned to redo the stringers and put the floor back in, I even formatted my dig camera just for the show. In good fashion, I found my 3/4 marine ply on backorder and the price sky rocketed on my resin. So I headed to boater's world and wanted to work a deal for the lowrance 527 and the guy wouldn't bug, he told me the price was 8 bills for me and any other jack leg that walked in. I reminded him I had been a loyal customer and his reply was you win some lose some. upset I headed to a little hole in the wall called Atlantic Marine and began talking to the guy behind the counter. Turns out he has a weak spot for firefighters and agreed to sell me the 527 just above cost $650 if I agreed to order my fiberglass and materials through him. 1 gallon resin and hardener $75.00 another $50 for the 6oz mat. So, if you get to Brunswick GA and need anything go to Atlantic Marine and ask for Ben, good guy and into v's and antique boats. So did I do good? http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z...reamer/527.jpg LMS-527C DF iGPS Display << 5.0" (12.7cm) diagonal 16-bit color SolarMax& trade; TFT display High-detail 480V x 480H pixel resolution High-speed screen updates Wide viewing angles in all light conditions Advanced cold-cathode screen and keypad backlighti ng Multiple sonar display color choices Sonar/Sounder << Depth penetration to 2,500 feet* (760 m) at 50 kHz 4,000 W peak-to-peak power Dual frequency 200/50 kHz Skimmer® transducer< br> Temp/speed/distance readings Adjustable ping speed with automatic HyperScrollT for high speed sounding FlashGraf™ LCD flasher+sonar graph with COLO RLINE™ FasTrack™ vertical flasher bar Standard sonar features - Advanced Signal Processi ng (ASP™), COLORLINE™, Advanced Fish Symbol I.D.™, FishTrack™ , multi-zoom options, sonar alarms, backup memory, and more GPS/WAAS/Mapping << Precise internal 12-parallel channel GPS+WAAS rece iver Expanded, built-in enhanced background map of the continental U.S, and Hawaii with over 3,000 lakes with depth contours Compatible with optional plug-&-play Lowrance FreedomMaps™, Fishing Hot Spots® Elite, LakeMaster® Pro Maps, NauticPath™ USA, and Navionics® electronic charts One waterproof slot for digital media card (MMC/SD not included) to record graphs, GPS details, and display optional custom m apping One-touch MOB (Man Overboard) 1,000 waypoints/1,000 event markers/100 routes 100 savable plot trails/10,000 points per trail 42 different graphic icons to mark your favorite s pots 40 map zoom ranges, 0.02-4,000 miles Plus << NMEA 2000® compatible for LowranceNET™ n etworking 5-pin Ethernet expansion port compatible for radar , video and satellite radio One full RS-232 port for NMEA 0183 data communicat ions One waterproof slot for digital media card (MMC/SD not included) to record graphs, GPS details, and display optional custom m apping Back-up memory saves customized settings Sealed and waterproof Full one-year warranty |

tsubaki,
I thought the same after looking at the webpage, and then I got an ear full about the ducer coming seperate and that it saw $700 and another bill for the ducer. Maybe I just caught the guy on a bad day. I like boater's world,I'm just a cheap sob LOL |
Re: I think I did good
That unit is no good, just box it up and send it to me so I can dispose of it for you. 8)

Re: I think I did good
LOL Not sure I could afford the shipping after haggling allday, I spent my last on an ice cream.

Re: I think I did good
We got two other major boat supplies chains in the Savannah area that love to gouge the devil out of you. Here Boaters World is about 1000ft from Bass Pro Shops and they actually cut most of BPS prices.
I don't think it was a bad day, just lack of competition. |
Re: I think I did good
what kind of resin cost you $75?
|
Re: I think I did good
ya know I didn't even think to ask about name brand. I'll get back to you on this, is there a type I should avoid?

Re: I think I did good
I thought that was high or the quote(er) was high.
Seems like we paid less than $30 gallon to rebuild my transom from River Services, everyone else wanted $45 a gallon from hardware stores to Home Depot and Lowes. |
