Re: about that ebay motor
You sure you want to roll the dice on shipping? I hate to dig up old bones but I can't help but remember that last shipping debacle that you and I went through! Lost, then found, then lost, then found, then lost, then found, then lost, then still lost, then still lost, then found...then damaged....missing parts etc. etc. etc.
I guess just make sure they crate it up better than I did and try to get some good shipping insurance. I wouldn't do it without those 2 things. Good luck! Blue |
Re: about that ebay motor
I have to hope that, that was not the norm in shipping!!
Tunahead sent me a nice shipping site were you can ck the drivers that bid on your shipment Much like ebay feed back, if they look good go for it, if a driver has bad feed back you can deny them. So I will take another chance. But is that a looper?? Like the one I have?? I can get it and keep mine for parts ;) |

Re: about that ebay motor
Here's what Ferm said about that motor:
Your 86 150 is the same basic engine that MJ has on his V-20, old school cross-flow engine. They are thirsty gas hogs for there output. That 86 225 is a good engine on fuel. It's a small-bore looper. The later 200/225's burned more fuel than the 86-87's small-bore's. The 88-91 large-bore loopers aren't that bad on fuel, but the 93+ are known to burn more. The later engines are more reliable, but I like my early small-bore looper. I've actually been eyein that engine myself. I like small-bore engines, LOT's of potential to build some HP |
Re: about that ebay motor
YES, she is definately a looper MJ. In fact it is the same looper you have now. 86-87 were basically the same engines. Have at her MJ, I need another engine right now like I need another boat :-[. And if your really froggy about her, I'll send you the article on how to make 300HP out of her reliably.

Re: about that ebay motor
I will never buy a used motor from Florida. The boating season down there is year round resulting in alot more hours compared to the NE. Also that motor looks like it was painted, I like to see the original condition of everything so I can tell how the previous owner took care of it. When I see new paint I think lipstick on a pig. I think you can find better locally.
