My son is going to Myrtle Beach for a few days this week and will be staying at the Springmaid Beach resort. They have a big fishing pier there and I waas wondering what he might be able to there now.

Re: Myrtle Beach Fishing
This time of year there is not much in the surf yet. If he has the time he can run up to Little River or Calabash, both just north of MB, and ride a headboat out for the day. Bottom fishing is tops these days.

Re: Myrtle Beach Fishing
tell hiim to put half a crab on a circle hook, with a weight about 3' from the hook, the big spot tails(red drum) are starting to feed, throw it out just past the breakers and siit back. Be carefull of the slot limit, you'll probabaly catch more over the size than in the slot

Re: Myrtle Beach Fishing
The beach structure is null. Its a gentle slope rather than a sharp drop and the sloughs that attract fish are non-existent. There's a place by the Holiday Inn where its a shell bottom and they are able to catch weakies from the beach pretty good.
Best bet is hop a boat out of Little River. ;) Preferrably a V20 or V21 :D |
