WTB fuel gauge sending unit
Looking to buy a fuel gauge sending unit for my 83 I/O 60 gallon fuel tank. I thought I had a full tank of gas, was worried that it sat in the tank too long. Drained it today and only got 7 gallons out with about another 1/2" still in the bottom of the tank, but the gauge shows full. Disconnected the sending unit wire and the needle went to empty. Need a sending unit - any ideas?????

Re: WTB fuel gauge sending unit
learn your boat!! Then you will always know!!
My gauges are shot and I just removed them, when I did the dash over. I can tell you how much gas I used at then end of each trip with-in a couple of gals. I have not seen to many boats that have a working gauge let alone a accurate ones. A bunch of guys like that Navman Fuel Flow Meter ?? Me less is better!! Of coarse i have 3 tanks I switch from ;D |
Re: WTB fuel gauge sending unit
MJ's got a great point...reliance on fuel gauges can get you into trouble...takes some time to learn, but after a while you should "know" how much fuel you've used...pay attention to what you put back in the tanks and over time you'll begin to have a feel for it...then when those gauges fail, you'll know better... ;)

Re: WTB fuel gauge sending unit
I'm looking at the Navman gps/plotter - will upgrade to the fuel monitor module also. It's just that everthing else on the boat has either been fixed or is scheduled to be fixed - so I guess I'm gonna fix this too
