Suzuki not peeing
 

Looks like I'm going to have to have the Pipe Dream towed. We headed to the marina Saturday to take my brother and his wife out for the afternoon. It would have been his first time on the boat in over 20 years and his wife's first time ever. Gorgeous skies and a really nice breeze (it's been brutally hot here like everywhere lately) to keep us cool. Got everyone situated and fired her up. No water out of the hole. Tried pushing some weed wacker line up to see if I could clear any obstruction but didn't do any good. Revving the engine didn't help either. Had the water pump replaced as a matter of maintenance last October. Still wondering if there's an obstruction because even when I hooked up the hose to flush the engine nothing came out of the pee hole. Day ruined but it could've been worse.

I called BoatUS to see what good my basic membership would do me and if it even covers dock to dock towing. The only good news to come from this is that since i insure the boat with Geico through BoatUS my insurance isn't the Basic plan but instead is the the Unlimited Gold Towing membership. I had no idea. Arranging for a tow tomorrow or Wednesday. Fingers crossed.

Always happens at the most inconvenient time. Do you have a temp gauge that would verify an actual overheat problem?

When u flush, is it on the muffs or a flush port on the engine?

That sucks. What I would do is I would trace the water lines and pull it apart if I can and see if I can find a obstruction.

You find change the water impeller. But unfortunately. That doesn't mean that it's a good one
I had the. Same problem and it was the impeller sepperated from the metal housing that the impeller is on. Did you check your thermostats?
I know that really sucks,your bringing out people and that happens. The good news is it will be fixed
Do you keep it in the water?
If not I would try to see what happened myself. If it is in the water than tow it to a repair shop

No temp gauge, only a warning light (that didn't come on).

I flush through an engine port.

She's (like you said, like a woman!) in the water. Arranging for the tow now. We'll see if the shop that did the work warranties it.

You have a DF140?

So no overheat alarm. It can take a while.. 5 minutes or more..
Its hard to wait til it overheats. A non-contact thermometer is a great tool.

The impellor could be bad.
The water inlet can be obstructed by seaweed.
The T stat housing could be clogged
The hose to the pee hole could be off and the water running inside the cowl.


The pee hole being obstructed by debris, if thats the problem, will not effect the motor in the least. The pee hole is a telltale. It lets you SEE that water is pumping. If it is just the pee hole blocked, but the water is pumping, the water still goes thru the head and out the exhaust and cools the motor.

You hooked the hose to the flush port right?
It didn't pee on the flush port? That would indicate blockage.
Did water come out the prop?
If the impellor was bad it would still pee on a flush port. Your impellor is new and they (usually) last a few years.

The "pee" overflows at the T stat (even when the T stat is closed) The T stat housing can get gummed up with salt goo and the water doesn't overflow to the pee hole. If its really bad, it doesn't flow thru the tstat

I have had to shoot a burst of compressed air up the pee hole, but i kinda don t like doing that. To me, if its a chunk of crud, you***8217;re just sending it deeper.

Hopefully it won t be too long before they can get to it.

With a 2018, u should be able to send all of your engine vitals to your gps if its NEMA 2000

Yeah, I flush using the engine port and normally water comes out full force from the pee hole and the prop/lower unit. This last time it only came out the prop/lower unit. When I disconnected the water source hose from the flush port water came gushing back out. Normally when I shut off the water and disconnect some water comes back out but it just sort of runs out. This time it felt like it had some pressure behind it.

I don't have a non contact thermometer but after running only a couple minutes the top of the engine felt hot to the touch (I had taken the cowling off).

I think your 175 is like my 200s. there is a hose to the "water indicator". Need to remove the side cover to reach.

Better to remove the hose than to push in things in the hopes of them coming out

Have you ever replaced the internal anodes on the block? and the Tstat? I have found them gummed with salt goo. If that breaks off it can certainly block thing up.

The anodes are easy. The T stat is in an awkward place.
