Anyone know the transom angle on a V20

I have a 1984 V20 with the cuddy cabin and an outboard.

When I get to my boat, I'll try to measure the transom angle,
but I was wondering if anyone knows.

I'm considering a used armstrong bracket for my outboard... but that's
assuming that the angle is correct or at least close to the transom angle.

Thanks!

Also... I've done a TON of work... will finish it (hopefully within a month)... and post updates and (finally) photos. Radar... auto pilot... hydraulic steering... 9.9 hp 4 stroke kicker motor... good stuff... all currently a work in progress too, but I hope to finish it up, clean everything up and get some good spring fishing in!

can't tell you the angle but I can tell you there are 3 angles.
Its not flat all the way across
Look at it hard before you buy a bracket.

Thanks so much, Skunboat!

I was considering looking for a used bracket, but unless I'm misunderstanding something, based on what you just told me, that won't work. I'd need to order or make a custom = bracket for the V20... and given the cost of ordering a custom bracket, It's not gonna happen.

Not necessarily, along time ago, in a galaxy far far away, MJ put one on his and added shims to compensate for the curve. Granted his was an IO, but the curve was there.

Might be able to use the search function and find a link. Not ideal, but doable

This is really not in my wheelhouse, but unless the angle is way off, I don’t see why shims wouldn’t work. Alternately, if it’s an aluminum bracket, a good welding/fab shop should be able to make and weld a modification (shims becoming part of the bracket), if that was an economical solution.

thanks for the info. i'm not sure what i want to tackle next, but buying a bracket and then having to make shims or pay to have them made is more effort than I'm willing to take on right now.

I have a bracket on my v20. I can look up the make and also measure any angles you want if that works. The v20 came with an bracket didn***8217;t it? The one one mine is made by sea mount products from FL . You could call them to see if they have something for the v20. I assume they might already have the specs given that they have had to build at least one for my boat ;)

Thanks for the info, Ashokrags. That's very helpful.

I ended up getting an atlas jack plate with a 12" set back.

I haven't mounted it up yet, but that's what I'm gonna go with.

A bracket seemed appealing because it can add some floatation to the stern when you're not on plane.

I'm considering moving my batteries to under the passenger seat, so that at least I get some of the weight more forward in the boat.

Thanks again!
