I've been running them for years with no issues, I have heard that they are under new ownership and they are now having some issues, specifically with the OMC stuff

The reason I asked , two years ago I almost broke down with my boat,we got her started but she ran bad, missing and no power. I changed the switch boxes and one switch box was ten years old ,the stator was replaced about three years ago I always had issues with stators I was advised to remove the flywheel cover , and I did I did take her out only once since having that issue and she ran great ,but it's in the back of my mind that it will happen when I'm out again in your opinion do you think I fixed the problem?

always replace switch boxes together, one bad one can fry the new good one. Stator output usually works till it doesn't, you don't get second chances with it. Rule of thumb, one cylinder no spark, its a coil, two cylinders no spark, two bad coils or a trigger, three cylinders no spark, its a switch box, no cylinders spark, either key switch/kill switch/harness or stator

add to that, always look for melted potting material or overheated wires on the stator, burnt places, etc. easiest test on a stator is to check ohms, if its open circuit, its bad, if it has continuity to ground, its bad. Check output takes a DVA meter or adaptor

Spare, I'm going to pass this to you I don't know if you know about this and I don't even know if it works but it won't hurt, I always had a problem with my stator, once it failed within the warranty period like 1 year and maybe every 2-3 years had to replace it, my son has a friend who works on Mercury outboards and he said he once had a guy with the same problem, stators going bad,so what he did was to remove the flywheel cover so it doesn't get as hot and he said after that the guy had no more problems , so I did the same remove the flywheel cover ( three wing nuts) I wanted to pass that along to you just in case you can use that if you have a customer who is always replacing there stator ,,, I did get and replace two switch boxes and so far it seems good I will keep you posted.
There is a house near me for sale if your interested with a huge driveway and the property tax is cheap only 9000 a year what do you think? It is New Jersey lol

Yea, we run the race boats with no flywheel cover. Cant hurt to get the heat out.

I've got a house near Charleston SC, and one near Topsail Island(Sneads Ferry) NC, I don't need a house in New Jersey. BTW, I pay less than $9000 a years on both properties combined, and the one in NC is waterfront
