Mj Update

1 Attachment(s)
Hey Everyone,

I know that I do not update often but I am trying.

Mj is still living in the nursing home. After over a year of no physical therapy, he has started again. Unfortunately that is going to be on hold again as he just had surgery to remove a gallstone that had caused a blockage and will need his gallbladder removed soon.

I truly wish my father had more motivation. My fiance, myself and my children have tried everything. We have yelled, screamed, cried, begged, bribed him with a all expenses paid trip to and from Mississippi, prayers, friends, family... we have tried everything.

My twins are turning 8 this summer and our little one is 3 1/2. NONE of them have even held a rod in their hands because Papa is the one that is suppose to teach them. Every spring I dream of getting them rods for Easter but without my father, I cannot do it. Getting married is on hold because I cannot walk down the aisle knowing my father is alive but cannot be by my side.

I visit my father 2 days of the week but now that we are a two vehicle family again, I hope to visit more. It just sucks because cape traffic sucks in the summer. The 15min drive turns into over an hour.

For Father's day, I was able to take the kids to visit my father for the first time since last March. My daughter is 100% Papas girl. The joy and love on her face was such a heart warming reminder of how incredible my father is. How blessed I am that although things have not turned out how we hoped, he is still here with us.

He misses you guys. So many of you have played such a huge role in the man that he is and I can't thank you all enough for all that you have done.

Please stay happy and healthy. I'll update again when I can.

Sincerely,
Amanda A.K.A Scupgirl

Thank you Amanda for the update and what a sweet picture - a hug like that is a lot of motivation.

When I joined the site over a decade ago, I’m pretty sure Joe was the first to greet me and he was the glue that held the group together for a long time.

My heart and prayers are with him and your whole family.

Thanks, Amanda. Sent him a card in the past and was wondering if that, or anything else, might help? Bless you and your family for doing everything that you can do and let us know what we can do as well.

Pipe Dream, he had gotten all cards that have been sent. Depression is a very hard thing to overcome. Given everything he has been through, I am grateful he is still here.

I hear you. Is he still at Cape Cod Heritage?

Amanda, thank you for keeping us updated on MJ. We all miss him and are rooting for him and your whole family. Have you tried medical marijuana with MJ? I'm wondering if it could help? Please tell him we are thinking of him.

God bless you guys!!!

Blue

Pipe Dream, yes he is still in the same place. I'll pm you.

Mj is very against Marijuana (although in his younger days he sure wasn't haha). We have many family members that partake in its uses for different reasons but mostly enjoyment. I myself like the occasional chocolate. We have offered and discussed cbd with him etc. It's just something he's not into.

Scupgirl I certainly understand and respect his stance on it. Like you I am sitting here trying to think of anything that could help out with his situation.

Praying for something good to come your way.

Amanda, could you please repost his address here on the forums? I'm sure a lot of people would send him ards and letters if they knew whee to send them to. Praying for a speedy recovery. Tell him not to worry about the Gall Bladder. I had mine out last year. It's a cakewalk. I was out of the hospital the next day.
