5200 or sealant?

I'm ready to install the drain tube, I cut it to size but should I use a sealant or 3m 5200?

Hey my wellcraft family, no need to answer my question,I used 5200 adhesive/sealant and looks good , now let's hope it last. China made tube.

Step, I've used it, once sealed stayed sealed, never had a problem. It does take about 1-2day's to fully cure. Did not know it was made in cc.

Yes I did use 5200 and I will not use me boat for another week so it's going to have enough time to cure, my old drain tube was cracked nd have came out and the other half I had to push it out, what I was concerned about is that the brass tube is made in China, how long before that one breaks apart. But it's done now and I hope it last.

As long as you completely coated the inside of the hole in the transom with 5200 before you inserted the coated brass tube you'll be fine. The trick is to keep any water from going around the outside of the tube and soaking the wood in the transom, both from the inside and the outside. Baring that, a nice layer right on the flanges with 5200 will work also. 5200 is awesome stuff. :head:

5200 for everything below the waterline and silicone based on anything above that may ever require replacement

Thanks for the info, 5200 below the water line and sealant above, got it .
