1984 V-20 CC, 1988 Merc 150 & Trailer in
All
Anyone out there looking for a V-20 Center Console (Fisherman) ? - No - I'm not selling my boat (the Bertram project is not even started) and I like the way my V-20 CC rides!! But I have a friend with a '84 V-20 CC, with a '88 Merc 150, and trailer. I've seen the boat - it is a clean rig - and ready to run. He is asking in the neighborhood of $6,500. Call Irv Horne, at Marine Mart at (410) 822-0166 he is in Easton, MD. He is a certified Merc mechanic so I know the boat is right! And he ha work on several of my rigs! By the way I put my '83 CC Fisherman in over the 4th weekend- Hooray - It is great to be back on the water! *** A * N * D *** - THESE V-20s SURE RIDE NICE !!! It was fun to watch the bow flare in action - In a CC it is a real show - put the bow into a chop and watch the water spray out to port and starborad - and NOT A DROP of water sprays back at the console - WOW - a dry center console - a dream come true! I was wave hopping like kid on a a jet ski !!! I once owned a ' 77 Blackfin 24 CC - a great boat - but a submarine in a chop - It would go right through each wave - and you'd get a saltwater shower - with each one - bring bait and a bar of soap! New enginie arrived for the V-20 CC so now to hang it and rig it - more later! C-Bill ;) ;) |

Re: OMC 140 Looper(s)
Trout
I am putting on a (New Old Stock) 2001 135 HP Johnson Ocean Pro. I am taking off a 1991 140 HP Johnson. Both engines are veneralble the OMC 122 CID Looper motor. A good strong motor. OK - It may not be super fast, and I had to "punch it" out of the hole. and yes, I can't pull a skier with 6 people in the boat - but most times I'm alone or with one or two other people - and with gas at $2.35 / gal - I can't afford to feed a big 6. On the 4th, I was doing Mid-20's at 4500 RPM lightly loaded with a 14 x 19 prop, and was doing upper 20's at 5,000 RPM and was still climbing. Check out the other posts about props, I see you bought the pair of 140's - I plan to use a 15 x 17 which The "OMC 140 looopers" are good motors - good luch with them - you should be fine - use the two motors to make one good one and keep the parts - a real win-win! Willy, and CB
Try calling in the mornings, Irvin opens up around 8:00, closes aroud 5:00, also try Saturday mornings - he's open 8-12, Anyhow try between 8:30 - 9 AM weekdays (usually a good time) - Irv doesn't have an answering machine - Oh well - try later... As for how the boat is set up - real standard, and original white hull - predistal seating - single galv trailer, clean looking 150 Merc. If you want, email me your return phone and I'll get it to Irvin. C-Bill ;) |

looks like you got a nice one there chumbucket, thanks. how do you like it compared to the v20 cuddy, i see you have both.

Re: 1984 V-20 CC, 1988 Merc 150 & Trailer in
I don't have either actually. The cuddy in my gallery is a buddy's boat. The CC was mine that I sold late last year. Everything I own is for sale for the right price. I just don't have a for sale sign on everything right now. ;D Just kidding. The V20 Center Console is one of the driest CC's I've been on. Very nice boats. ;)

Re: 1984 V-20 CC, 1988 Merc 150 & Trailer in
CapnBill, that should be an economical and reliable engine. No, I was not the purchaser of the twin 140's, but yes those are known to be reliable. I had a 1991 Johnson 150 loop charge on a previous boat that is still being run by a friend who put it on his new hull. I know that is a great engine. You should be very pleased with yours. I think that OMC really had those carburated motors down pat. Both of my boats have v6 carburated 1999 Johnsons. One is a 200 and one is a 225 High Output. Both have been stupendous so far (knock on wood).

Re: 1984 V-20 CC, 1988 Merc 150 & Traile
hey chumbucket thanks for the pics of your cc i taled to the fellow this am. he says it has the older 20" transom and it will take water in if your sitting and get splashed, i noticed on your boat it looks low too, and nothing to stop water that comes over, has this been a problem for you. i'll be using the boat here in jersey around the inlets and it gets rough like a giant washing machine sometimes, could use your wise council ;)
