New fuel guage, sender unit - still not working
I have just replaced my dashboard and all gauges. Everything is working great except the fuel. It was broken before the project also...
I have a full tank of gas, the gauge has power and is grounded properly; all connections are new. Pink wire is attached and runs to the sender. I have a ground tab attached on the sender. Then the green wire(s). One coming from back and one going out. I have to trace these tomorrow, but am I correct in assuming that one heads to the engine or battery, the other to the fuel cap bracket? I have to open it up tomorrow... but I'm pretty sure the green one does NOT go to a neg terminal on a battery. Not sure about the ground on fuel cap bracket. Its driving me nuts!!! |
Funny how things work out... I start fiddling around behind the gunnel hatch near the fuel hose... boom, the fuel vent host/fitting broke in half.

Don t say Boom when working with gas!
I think ,on my V, the tank is bonded to the fill and to the battery 1 wire from the sending unit going to the engine. I have never used a fuel gauge. When i topped off the tank i would set the trip on my gps. I figured 2 mpg at 50 gallons and refilled at 75 miles. Usually within 3 gallons of my estimate. The new motor records fuel flow and consumption, so still don t have a gauge. And I still set the trip on the gps (old habits...). |

Test by jumping a wire from the tank to neg. Your gauge will probably work. I just chased this down on my boat the ground of the tanks were off and fallen down and hidden. |
