Attachment 7836I need to find a replacement footwell for this 1990 Wellcraft 18 Fish. Take a look at the attached photo. I am trying not to just replace it with a hatch as I would like to retain my space for my feet. Any ideas. (BTW the photo was taken when i was buying the boat...i know it was filthy) Any advice would be greatly appreciated.*Attachment 7836

Gonna be hard to find one unless you get lucky. What s the issue with the one in the picture. Looks like it is an insert made out of the same stuff as the rod boxes..

Maybe just take it out

It is cracked and falling apart. If I took it out I would just have a hole there. I would prefer not to replace with a hatch. I cant believe it is soo hard to find a replacement part where you still retain room for your feet.

the biggest problem with the rod boxes were the flanges where they were screwed to the inner liner. mine were all cracked and falling apart. to remedy this , I glassed a strip of fiberglass tape around the edge. didn't really matter what it looked like because it was on the inside.

only other thing I could suggest would be cut the hole square & build something out of starboard,

Have you fixed this yet? Pull the old one and make a plug from the original. If this is beyond your ability, find a local fiberglass shop to do that.

Of course if the original is glass then just repair it.

if its the same plastic they use in the rod boxes, poly resin bonds pretty good. sure an epoxy would too.
I did the back if the rod boxes with 1.5oz matt and at 225lbs I can stand on them, supported me and no separation. I actually took one and threw is across the shop to see if the plastic would separate or plastic would crack - all good
