Furthest distance covered in V I’ve run 30 -40 + miles lots of times running up and down the ocean front . Anyone ever do a serious road .....oops water trip on your V boat ? |
|
Probably never do it again but 70+ miles. NE Wind kicked up on the way in still 50 miles out. Pucker factor was HIGH while fuel was getting LOW. |

Blue - hey same model V21...... 75 miles out in the V is a hike and definitely pushed the fuel range. |

Texas Tower 75 out. Did Chicken Canyon 60 out many times. I saw a story somewhere about someone back in the 70's taking a V20 to the Cayman Islands from Miami |

Skunk- did you carry extra fuel ? |
|
I would take a 5 gal can for safety but never needed it. Got 3.6+mpg with the DF140 |

Took mine from sandy hook nj to Puerto Rico and trolled both ways n e winds 20 to 30 knots and had fuel left when I got back No seriously I took mine fron sandy hook to the mud buoy , and the reef and the sea right rocks ,that's as far as I go. A man has to know his limitations Mileage wise? I would say 25 miles maybe 30 both ways , 15 to 17 out and then back always in the sight of land |

Like Skunk, I went to the sunken Texas tower back in the 1970's when I lived in So.Tom's River in my first V20 (4 cyl I/O) I had several extra gas cans on board and needed them coming back because that boat only had saddle tanks. Scared silly and will never do it again in such a small boat. Fortunately, the seas were calm that day so I was never in any real danger, but I was nervous the entire day, and fishing is supposed to be relaxing. :head: |

I'm sure on a nice day any V would do it but I'm really concerned about only having one engine. That's what I'm concerned about.like ou said it is so posed to be relaxing.2years ago I just put my boat in the water at Atlantic highlands and came around the breaker wall and s tarted heading toward the hook and hit a whale,so anything can happen |

I'm considering Belmar to Montauk for 2-3 day trip in the V. Weather window: 1 high pressure settled in over mid atlantic which happens at least 1x each summer. 2. low risk T storms 125 miles each way....BUT many inlets I'm familiar with along the south shore of LI. |
