'87 200/v8 specs

Hello all, curious if my engine is performing the best it can. I had it out today on Lake Dora in Central FL. Flat, minimal wind. Had it wide open and it hit 45.6mph at around 4500 rpm (or close to it).

Engine seems to be running nicely... stays right around 140 degrees, fires up on the first turn of the key. I had a big fiasco with water in the block, fixed that with some TLC and 5 oil changes, to which I'll post the story in full for some laughs.

I'll update this after looking today: 19P for the 3 blade prop

should be getting more than 4500 rpm, right? What's the ideal max rpm range for your engine?

those engines were 4400-4800

I also found from research today the acceptable range is 4400-4800 for this year engine

ah gotcha. For reference, I'm getting 53mph gps with a 225 on my 83 V20 Fisherman. Full tank of gas, 2 people, and a cooler full of ice and beer. So I don't think you're too far off with the 200. Are you cuddy or center console?

I have a cuddy, and at the time had roughly 23 gallons of gas, no gear, only myself.

Update: I went to take it out again last night and fired it up, getting ready to leave and had opened the engine hatch to inspect a weird noise. There was a little water coming out of the 3-4" exhaust boot coming off starboard riser, in the crease. Dry rot. Pain in my ***, but with Prime shipping I ordered the gasket and new boot for today arrival. And for half the price of the same exact Sierra parts that my local marina wanted.

Now... anyone suspect that I was losing a little power due to that exhaust leak that I did not know existed?

Another update: I got a new exhaust boot and installed. New riser gasket and boot installed nicely (but wouldn't you know it a bolt that hangs the throttle assembly on the riser broke off while reinstalling - but an easy fix).

Fire it up and it runs beautifully. The lake was like glass yesterday after work, so I took it out to test. WOT was 4600 RPM and it hit 47.2 mph.
