2005 Honda 225 fuel in oil???

I went with my dad on his boat fishing this year coming back into the harbour the oil temp light came on. I shut it down pulled of the cowl checked the oil it was over full and reddish in colour. Waited for twenty minutes started it up light went off idled back to the dock. We changed the oil and filter the oil was just under the full line when the job was complete. We went crab fishing the next day for six or seven hours and came home the next day.

Dad was doing post trip maintenance and checked the oil dipstick it was over full and reddish again. We were filling up the boat with dyed fuel every day. The only thing we can think of is the fuel must be getting into the oil some how does anyone have some thoughts or opinions on this.

not familar with that motor, carb or fuel injected?

I'm not really up on the 4 strokes, but they say over propping a 4 stroke causes this. You lug the engine, carbon builds up, and then the rings start leaking down and you make oil. I would reccomend doing a heavy dose of ring free and making sure you're propped so that at wide open you reach the upper spectrum of the reccomended max rpm's, or even a little over.

stuck thermostat, engine stays in warm up mode running rich, excess gas gets past the rings. Check/replace the thermostats. If they are good, check the injectors, sounds like one or mare may be sticking open. Plugs will probably all be black

Thank you for your input gentlemen much appreciated

The Suzuki 140 had an o ring in the fuel pump that would leak gas into the oil, maybe Honda uses a similar pump?

Looks like the fuel injectors need to be replaced on it. Damn there expensive 1200$ to replace all six :cen:
