Florida V20 Owners
Just found out florida has an Antique boat registration like they do on automobiles. Friend of mine has a 84 dusky and he just renewed his sticker. Dropped his fee from $35 to $3.50. Vessel has to be over 30 years old.
My whaler is a 66 so its been elgible for 20 years and nobody at the tag office ever said anything Has anybody else heard of this or taken advantage of it. Mine is not due until January so they will probably change it by next year... Edit: just looked it up online, $6.50 and you have to fill out a form at tag office. Coolio |
My county said no when I asked them...:bat:

Interesting, the state requirements are over 30 years old,non commercial use and same type power as original. It took this to mean you could upgrade as long as you stayed with an o/b or i/o. Another site i went to said "same vintage" as original. Seems like it's up to local tax collector or clerk you get.
Oh well, if its too good to be true, it usually is Thanks ridge |
I had thought it to be original vintage power. I'll bet an old codger such as yourself could pull it off. What would McGee and Meyer do?
Thinking about it though, just because you fool the mean black lady at tag office, don't mean the fwc officer isnt going to know that 4 stroke merc aint vintage. Might not be worth the attention or ticket. |
Roger that ,B. Got the forms from the tax collectors office. The front side says "powered by its original type power plant". Mine came with a 150 merc, i repowered with a 150 merc, so all good, right? Wrong, on the back of the form, it defines "type" as same year and model as original.
Sticker looks the same, but might not pass a FWC stop. Not worth it for $40. Maybe i could repaint my new cowling to look like the old black max... |
