Ferm??? Spare???

you guys around?? what's your opinion on a 2000 evinrude ficht ram 150? haven't gone to see yet but looks well maintained through pictures.

there is an adjective that's spelled very close to Ficht that aptly describes them.:nut:

To be honest. there are so few of those things around, I really don.t have much of an opinion about them. Those early years were known to have issues, and were during the bankruptcy/buy out of OMC by Bombardier. Ram FIcht was Bomb's first attempt to rectify the issues with Ficht engines( ETEC v2.0) I have no idea how many updates were issued during the early years. A lot of parts for those motors are no longer available or the price for upgrading would far outstrip the value of the engine. I have heard those engines were to most fuel efficient outboards every made. But basing it on other OMC/Bomb products during those years, there were still plagued with issues not reflated to the power head(weak lower units, poor aluminum castings, etc...), i wouldn't want one

RUN FOREST, RUN! That about sums up what one should do with a 150-175 early FICHT. Yes they're fuel efficient(better than a 4 stroke), but there is no way in he!! I would ever own one. Time on the water is to precious to spend it all waiting on seatow because your emm crapped out, your plugs fouled and it's misfiring, or you got a piece of carbon stuck in a ring and it rips a cylinder liner out. NO THANK YOU!

well, that's good enough for me. I was looking at a little 18 CC robalo but I don't want to replace the motor for a few years. i'll keep looking.
thanks.

When they ran, they RAN. Problem was most of them rarely ran. It's not uncommon to still find one of these laying around with little to no hours because it simply wouldn't run long enough to rack any hours up.

Agreed.......my Evinrude tech included that parts are going to become rare.....in addition to it being a faulty motor.

However.......after Bombardier took over around 02-03.....those 150's & 200's were good running engines, and are frequently sold for bargain prices. I had an 03 or 04 200 hp and it was terrific....no issues.

Get a Force. Seriously.

if it has the air cooled computer then run on the 98/99 and early 2000 fichts. Otherwise many of the 150/175 that got the updates like pinned heads and newer injectors ran fine for many years. There is a spot in the rpm range usually 2800 - 3200 where they ran like crap.
