Rod holders

Pulled the trigger on some flush mount "Scotty" type rod holders. Cabelas was running a sale on a 4 pack. Anyone use the Scotty type rod holders?

I don't really like the way they look but... As long as they serve their purpose.

Anyone hook into anything heavy with a rod in one of these type of rod holders? Any suggestions for a rod leash hookup?

not quite picturing "flush" Scotty rodholders.

I Have a couple powerlock scottys on my canoe. I wouldn't use them trolling for tuna.

They dont hold up for walleye trolling, they also eat the handles of your rods up

Think they would hold up to a 10-15lb bluefish on the troll? I needed a holder on the rail close to the console. figure they will mainly be used for bait rods.

agree, they chew foam handles...

personally, I wouldn't use them on my V20 but they are really handy on a canoe or tin boat....lake or bay fishing.

not wanting to rewrite a book, have you looked at the recent "Rod holder" thread in Modifications?

Here is a standard offshore setup i use. We hook tunas,mahi,rockfish.....blah blah blah with this set up. I made backing plates for mine to distribute some pressure

Love that boat Kracker. It would be great if stock V20s had 9" wide gunnels so we could turn them outwards.

Did you shorten any of those rod holders? I cant use that style because they will interfere with the rod storage which I use and I can only turn them out so much before they turn into knee busters.
