Ok...stupid question Wednesday ; what's the little compartment under the helm for?
Charts/ boat reg?

Didn't get any key with boat...replace lock?

Tx, Bill

Its a "glove box" for your registration, sunglasses, etc.

It tends to rattle around, catches water and tends to rot out at the bottom. I replaced the bottom of mine with starboard.

The lock sucks. I'm sure you can find one just as bad on the web....
In a pinch, a screwdriver turns the whole mechanism.

Mine didn't close right all season.
I don't keep anything important in there.
That has been the object of some daydreaming but it is a low priority

Thanx...

Pretty sure that the glove box came in handy when I replaced the steering on my 87. No need to remove the whole fiberglass helm like I did on the 91 V 20.

yes, it is great access to steering and for fishing electric wires between cuddy and gunnel

Removed mine and just have a blank fiberglass panel in it's place, like others said access hatch.

Took what was left off the door off and mounted a fire extinguisher in the '84...Haven't decided what to do with the '87 yet...:train:
