Saturday, Dec 10 New Jersey......

Planning on a striper trip....yeh !

Will check my usual reports & recon Friday, plus watch direction some of my notable boats head out Shark River. Hey, I'm no dummy.......I haven't fished properly in weeks so a little homework usually pays off....

NW strong but decreasing should have the 1st mile out calm as usual.

Any other V's headed out welcome to call me mostly on ch 65. V21 is my name.

I'm the boat with fish jumping all around me !

Be careful and dress warm Greenie... Rain and snow are in the forecast for this weekend. And the temp is already down in the 20's. Maybe you should go fishing at the local supermarket instead? :head:

Season end coming way too quickly.....

I remember 2 years ago, spray freezing on the V windshield, and sliding down as slush while the deck was partially frozen. Fishing alone, I though....well this wouldn't be too good if I fell in while trolling !!

But.....this Sunday now looks like the day with light W after the NW blow, should be close to flat inshore, and if no stripers, can drop a few crabs for bottom dwellers.

With 2 VHF's, wearing PLB, whistle, and life jacket, I fish safely.

The eskimo's fish from outboard boats in colder weather......it's a matter of perspective.

It's called hypothermia, and if you fall in you are in for a rough time. So don't fall in. Better yet, wear a tether to the boat, as well as your engine kill lanyard. Even a light wind can quickly blow a boat away from you. This way you can quickly haul yourself to the boat and climb back in. Words to live by.

Friend of friends dad...........years ago.......went out for one more trip alone on 23' Seacraft into the Cape May rips. Boat was found, still running while he was gone.

Story had it that dragger came up with a hand months later.
No joke, but I've found skiing much more dangerous.

Agreed... lots more trees to run into skiing than docks to run into boating. And skiing doesn't reward you with a fresh fish dinner at the end of the day like fishing does.

Very calm 1-2 miles out.....flat...... run south and picked one keeper on the white mojo, then ran north and nothing. Flattest ocean I've seen all year as the W wind died out.

Quick shot at tog, got one very small, and about 3 bergals. A gul swooped down and got one bergal. Nice meal.

Engine running fine, last trip of the year. Have some good boat projects for winter.
