cb radios...........
are they still a thing? is it a southern thing? a northern thing? Midwest? I used to be on. haven't in years. wondering if anybody still uses one.

I have a small 40 channel Fuzzbuster in my boat. None in my vehicles. When I'm traveling tandem with another vehicle I have a cheap set of Cobra Walkie-talkies that are good for several miles range that we use. Easier than cell phones and less distraction. No messing with dialing, etc.

Are used to be a big cb person must have been one of the most powerful stations around used to be able to shut the whole town down Lynn cell phones came out and that was the end of CB radio but I still know a few people that have them

I have one that I use in the truck on the outer banks, that's the only time I pull it out.
|
I have several cb's and some tube and solidstate linears. the past couple years my use has tapered off. When i was putting a couple hundred miles a day on my car i used them alot.

Back in the day of CB's I used to run heat both in my car and my home base. Every day my wife would turn the beam towards where I was working and we would talk while I drove home. Not bad when you consider that I worked 45 miles from the house.... :head: My base station was a President *Washington* SSB (tweaked) going thru a 2000 watt linear to a White Lightning beam antenna, mounted at the top of a 65' Rohn tower with a Ham II rotor. Sweet setup if I do say so myself, (Although there were times when my neighbors didn't like me very much so I tried to limit my skipland talking to very late/ early morning so as not to disturb them.) |
