And I've search all over and can't find a pic of the capacity plate would like to see one from a 81 I also like to know about rod holders mine only has some in center console and none in side of boat like I see other wellcraft |
Hi and welcome to the site. Glad to have you aboard. Do a search of the forums and you'll find several posts about capacity plates, what they say and also where to buy new ones. Again, welcome aboard!!

Double check yourctachometer as 4200 rpm's is REALLY low for wot for that engine. I believe onc said 4500-5500 for them, but I like to see 5200-5300 rpm's wot on them(keep it below 5700 rpm's as that engine has a known harmonic in it at roughly 5750 rpm's where it causes the flywheel to rattle apart and can shatter). Your speed sounds correct though, so I would suspect you have a tachometer problem. You can look through the gallery here as I believe theres a copy of the 81 flyer that lists weights and such for it. As to rod holders, you've got a 25 year old boat, who knows what all has been done to it before you. On the plus side, it's easy enough to get a hole saw, pole holders, and some 4200, and install some where ever you want them at.

The top speed is close to most 150's.....up to 42 mph or so, maybe the tach isn't working properly ?

Looks like '81 CCs don't have room for gunnel rodholders except in the stern corners? One consideration with the gunnel rodholders is that you never have room to angle them outward. Don't drill a hole without thinking ahead.... |
I've always wondered why the guys who fish the salt use the gunnel rodholders so much.
Here on the great lakes we use tube rodholders almost exclusively. There are many different manufacturers at different quality and price points. Below is a link to perhaps the most well made products available. They also have a lifetime warranty. Locally made right here in Cleveland, Ohio U.S.A. https://www.ciscofishingsystemsltd.com |
