Installed with a little help from Dad's Massey Ferguson, it's nice that outboards are pretty much plug and play these days.

Nice, I've been very happy with mine, got a little over 200 hours on it so far. I'd be interested to see how you prop it.

Planning on going with a 14 or 14.25 X 19, that's what was on the 150 Black Max before. Would be grateful for any advice on what prop to get.

Jealous. :nice: I can see my local Mercury dealer through the woods at my house, real hard not to go pick one up myself. My better half would kill me.

Beautiful I don't know if this would help you but I have a older 150 mercury and have a 15 x 17 prop and it's perfect

phatdaddy 05-09-2016 08:28 PM

I'll try and get a number off of my prop tomorrow. I think it's a 17 pitch. My top end with a normal load and slight chop is 37-38 mph @ 5600rpm

Did you get the smartcraft gauge? That thing is great for finding your best spot for fuel economy. I've found the gallons burned and gallons remaining to be very accurate.

You are going to let the dealer do the 1st start and setup, right? If not MERCURY can deny your warranty later on if you have a problem if no PDI is on file for that serial number. It used to be they weren't even allowed to sell you an engine without actually putting it on the boat.
