The "art" of working with gel coat

Touch ups with gel coat can be relatively easy......or not.......

I broke my own rule of staying a bit " whiter " than needed, and of course it's tough going back.

All know what I mean ?

Gel coating is an art in that .......
A. got to know what your using......waxed to cure or non- waxed requiring film coverage.
B. proper temperature......including temperature of the boat surface.
C. proper prep, application, and wet sand/ buffing.

Once these A, B, C's are covered, it's almost fun work....almost.

What exactly is gel coat?

bgreene 03-03-2016 06:03 PM

Polyester resin.....nearly your entire boat is coated with the stuff.........

Maybe it is? I can't see it through the Awlgrip. :fam:
