nice descaler
|
seen a guy use a curry comb to scale a flounder one time, took about three passes and it was done. I use a fork on bigger scaled fish, a spoon on smaller scaled
|
I wouldn't have thought of that.
A butter knife does a good job on flounder, perch and stuff up to needing a hoe to scale. At that point I skin them with a fillet knife. On a similar note, I wonder if Stink has skinned deer with an air compressor and ball needle yet? |
never tried that, but i have cleaned scallops with a shop vac.
|
actually, I've used just a garden hose with a strong stream to do the same thing. But, I only did it for someone who really wanted whole sea bass.
I fillet and skin everything. faster and easier, just meat, no heads, no scales, no skin, no bones. Can't imagine ever scaling a flounder. Thats just crazy! |
The only reason I will scale flounder is I like to eat the skin on a flounder. Also a necessity if you plan to fry him whole, which is awesome.
My dad laughs at me cause I eat the skin and bones. :part: |
Wonder if the pressure washer bruises the meat?
